Click around to learn about different whales. Most of the whales have links to actual songs. Students split into groups and read about different types of whales. Then students write questions about the whales they did not read about. Students then ask their classmates questions about whales they did not study.

This page contains more scientific information about whales. There is less information about the communication of whales.

Students can research a whale and write a persuasive paper describing which whale they would like to be (if they could). Students must use information they learned to support they opinion.

Informational Animal Communication (gorillas)

The kids page link provides information about gorillas. There is a link that shows how Koko has learned to use sign language to communicate.

Animal  Communication (Bees)

 

Teacher reads and explains the informational article to the students. Then students are to compare and contrast the communications of bees and whales.
